The perfect recipe for a successful blog post

  • TECHNICAL LEVEL
Content

Because content creation is still a very important aspect in 2013, it is important to know how to write and build a blog post well. No chef prepares their spaghetti sauce the same way,  so here is my recipe for a successful blog post.

Like any good cookbook, I encourage you to add salt, pepper and mushrooms at your discretion. After all, only you are in a good position to know the tastes of your tasters-readers.

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF DISH PRESENTATION

THE FAT

Just like in the kitchen, blog posts sometimes contain both good and bad fats.  Bold text emphasizes the text to be read within a paragraph.  As reading on the Internet is a perpetual question of time, the use of bold allows the Internet user to scan the page in order to quickly determine whether the content of the site appeals to him or not. This also helps to clearly identify the ideas of each paragraph. However, be careful not to overuse it.

THE VISUAL DECORATION

It is essential to have at least one image in a blog post.  First, it is used during social sharing as an image announcing the article, and then to facilitate reading by making it sweeter and sometimes adding a clarifying element.

If you believe that no image could fill your article, take a look at the photo bank sites; you might be delightfully surprised . WARNING: do not put a link on the image!  The visitor must not click on it and end up on a page containing only your image alone.

SMALL PORTIONS

In order to facilitate reading , it is always important not to put too much text in a single paragraph . Going there with dosage allows the reader to take a break, to savor every bite. In addition, presenting too large paragraphs can easily discourage the reader. Remember: moderation tastes better.

FLEAS

Bullets must be present if you are doing enumerations . They facilitate fast diagonal reading. Consider changing very short paragraphs to bullet points to make it easier to read.

THE TITLE OF THE CULINARY MASTERPIECE

Often overlooked despite its determining role, the title of the blog article must be cooked on low heat in order to encourage reading. This is often the most important determinant in deciding whether or not to read the article.

A TITLE MUST  :

  • Be irresistible to the eye

Imagine a refrigerator full of blog posts. How will you distinguish your article from others? It must be able to make the reader salivate at a glance.

  • Use the right key ingredients

Your title is also a very important factor for SEO .   As it is for a lot in the natural positioning of your article, we must make sure to use keywords that will bring fruitful results...

  • Be short (120 spices and less)

A title should not contain more than 120 characters, firstly because it will take less time to read and also because the article can be easily shared  on social media, the limit of which can reach 140 characters (Twitter). The length of the title also plays in the retention of information and the attraction of the reader.

  • To be unique

Your title should be evocative. It should be different from the last title written on the same topic . You can't publish an article every month called "Social Media Tips"; you must differentiate your articles from old ones and others with a unique title. After all, a chicken can be used in all sauces!

Example of good headlines:

Example of bad headlines:

  • What's new in Google Analytics
  • Remarket your customers
  • Be present on Google
  • garden salad

If you think you got a good title the first time, take a few minutes to repeat it two to three times to ensure you have the best possible title for your unique dish .

GENERAL TIPS

Finally, here  are some general tips for creating your main course.

  • One subject per article

Do you want to talk about the new features offered by Facebook regarding page management? Limit yourself to this! It is important to understand that it is not a question of addressing a single platform or a single tool, but simply trying not to confuse the reader by talking, for example, about the new Google Analytics and then talking about Facebook post optimization. Everything in its time. The dessert is not served at the same time as the soup.

  • A flawless article

A blog post should show your knowledge on a topic. If an error, whether spelling, history or related to the content, slips into your article like a hair, it is all the credibility of this article which is at stake.

  • End with a call to action

This point is much less important than the others, but it can be interesting to end an article with a call to action . It can be tasting another blog post, reacting in the comments or savoring a little more about the subject.

In conclusion, never hesitate to be creative! Otherwise, it will make a leader not very happy.

If you've made it this far, your next dish will hopefully be enjoyed! Thank you in advance for reading. Did I forget some tips for a successful recipe?
