Each month, our Digital Transformation team puts together a survey of news items featuring current stories that affect the digital world.
1. Amazon Business and Business Prime: Now available in Canada
The giant that is Amazon continues its international offensive in the B2B market by offering a range of services and functionalities to companies looking to do business with the platform. This is one step closer towards a transformation of procurement practices and online sales in a B2B context, and it could have immediate repercussions on Quebec and Canadian businesses.
2. Home deliveries: High frequency of theft
Thirty-six percent of people surveyed reported at least one theft of a package per year. This was taken from a study undertaken and published by C+R Research, called “2019 Package Theft Statistics Report.” With the increase in e-commerce, logistical issues are multiplying. Several strategies have been deployed by consumers to prevent theft (such as in-store pick-up, workplace delivery, etc.), but some consumers still don’t feel comfortable ordering higher-priced items.
3. Launch of the Apple Research App: Clinical research at a click
With this app, which enables iPhone and Apple Watch users to authorize (through an easy opt-in) the collection of their personal data, Apple is solidifying its ambitions of becoming a big player in the health sector. Its process has been approved by an independent ethics committee, and big name partners like OMS and the American Heart Association are participating in the project.
